Guardian by Julius Lester

This is the story of two young boys going from best friends to enemies in the blink of an eye; all because of the views their family has on black's and white's mixing. Ansel and Little Willie are the best of friends and see each other no differently. Ansel is a white boy and his father owns the store that Little Willie's father works at. Big Willie is sentenced to be hung for a crime he did not commit. Will Ansel or his father speak up for Big Willie or watch him die an unfair death?-POSTED BY MEGAN RITTER

This book really opens your eyes to the situations taking place during the civil war times. Its really sad and unfortunate how this book ends.
